About
Golf in Banffshire
Banffshire offers authentic Scottish links golf along its dramatic coastline. Duff House Royal, set in the grounds of the grand 18th-century Duff House, provides an excellent test with a mix of parkland and links characteristics. The course has hosted Scottish professional championships and offers quality golf in a historic setting.
The coastline features several traditional courses where golf has been played for over a century. Royal Tarlair at Macduff occupies a spectacular clifftop setting with views across the Moray Firth.
The terrain along the Banffshire coast combines exposed clifftop holes with more sheltered sections through natural duneland. Like much of Scotland's northeast coast, the region enjoys a relatively dry climate compared to the west. The courses here offer genuine, unpretentious Scottish golf - well-maintained, welcoming, and with a strong sense of tradition. Late spring through autumn provides the most comfortable playing conditions.
