About

Golf in City of Edinburgh

Edinburgh is one of the world's great golfing cities. The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, now at Muirfield, was founded here in 1744, making it the oldest golf club in the world. Today, courses across the city offer everything from historic links to championship parkland.

The Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society (founded 1761) and Royal Burgess (1735) rank among the world's oldest clubs. Craigielaw, Musselburgh Links - where golf has been played since at least 1672 - and the various courses at Musselburgh provide links options, while parkland courses dot the city's suburbs.

Edinburgh's position on the Firth of Forth creates a relatively dry microclimate, with far less rain than Scotland's west coast. Golf is comfortable year-round, with long summer evenings allowing rounds well into the night. The city's extraordinary cultural attractions, restaurants, and pubs make it a complete golfing destination.
