About
Golf in Dunbartonshire
Dunbartonshire is home to Loch Lomond Golf Club, one of the world's most exclusive and scenic courses. Set on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond with the mountains rising beyond, the Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish design hosted the Scottish Open from 1996 to 2010, attracting the world's finest players to its stunning setting.
Beyond Loch Lomond, the region offers accessible golf serving the communities along the Clyde and the southern edge of the Highlands. The terrain varies from the lochside splendour of Loch Lomond to parkland courses with views of the surrounding hills.
The area's position on Scotland's west coast means it receives more rainfall than the east, but the quality of course maintenance ensures playable conditions year-round. Summer and early autumn provide the best weather, though the dramatic scenery - particularly the views across Loch Lomond to Ben Lomond - offers rewards in any season.
