Golf courses in Highland

The Scottish Highlands offer golf experiences unlike anywhere else - courses set against backdrops of mountains, lochs, and ancient castles. Royal Dornoch, perched on the Dornoch Firth in the far north, is widely considered one of the finest links courses in the world. Tom Watson called it "the most fun I ever had playing golf."

Nairn has hosted the Walker Cup and Curtis Cup, while Brora and Golspie provide authentic, unspoiled links experiences. Castle Stuart, a modern championship links near Inverness, hosted the Scottish Open from 2011-2016 and has been lauded for its spectacular design.

The Highland terrain ranges from pure links along the coast to heathland and parkland courses inland. The far north enjoys remarkably long summer days - you can tee off at 10pm in June and still have daylight. Spring through early autumn offers the best weather, though the Highlands can surprise with glorious days any time of year.
