About

Golf in Midlothian

Midlothian offers excellent golf in the rolling countryside south of Edinburgh. The region is steeped in golfing history - Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society and the Royal Burgess Golfing Society, two of the world's oldest golf clubs, were founded here before moving to their current locations.

Courses like Ratho Park, Baberton, and Lothianburn provide quality parkland golf within easy reach of the capital. The terrain rises towards the Pentland Hills, offering courses with views across Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth.

The landscape is attractive rolling parkland, with mature trees and the backdrop of the Pentland Hills adding character. Midlothian benefits from Edinburgh's relatively dry microclimate - the east of Scotland receives far less rain than the west. Courses here are playable year-round, with summer and early autumn providing the most pleasant conditions.
