About

Golf in Perthshire

Perthshire is home to Gleneagles, one of the world's most celebrated golf resorts. The estate's three championship courses - the King's, Queen's, and PGA Centenary - have hosted the Ryder Cup (2014), the Solheim Cup, and numerous other prestigious events. The PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, provided the stage for Europe's memorable Ryder Cup victory under Paul McGinley's captaincy.

Beyond Gleneagles, Perthshire offers diverse golf across stunning Highland scenery. Blairgowrie Golf Club features two highly regarded courses on sandy, heathland terrain. The region's parkland and heathland courses are set against a backdrop of mountains, rivers, and ancient forests.

The terrain varies from flat valley floors to dramatic hillsides, with many courses enjoying views of the Grampian Mountains. Perthshire's position in central Scotland means a moderate climate, though highland courses can experience changeable weather. May through September offers the most reliable conditions, with particularly spectacular autumn colours in the wooded courses.
